What Is A Virtuweld Clamshell?

• We have stock platforms (or sizes of clamshells) that we use as the outside length and width (starting point). From there we take the size of your part(s) and create only an insert to hold your parts inside of the stock platform. Here your part looks as if it is inside of a custom clamshell, but in reality it is just a custom insert holding your part in place. No one knows the difference (except you…since you paid 40%-50% less for tooling).
• The most effective theft deterrent for clamshells and retail packaging is to literally seal the entire perimeter of the clamshell. This requires the customer to cut the clamshell to access the parts inside. It also requires $5000 to $7500 in additional tooling and equipment for this permanent seal. Enter the Virtuweld clamshell! Virtuweld has a patented sealed edge and actually “hides” where the clamshells join together. The customer has no idea how to open the clamshell and assumes it is sealed like all the other high end clamshells, so they need to cut it open.
